(3525) Fall, Drop, Drop structure, Fall structure, Canal weir
1 - A structure designed to secure the lowering of the water surface in a channel in a short distance, and the safe destruction of the liberated surplus energy. In Egypt, a fall or drop structure with water flowing over it and having its surface subject to atmospheric pressure is called a `canal weir`. 2 - The terms `fall` or `drop` also refer to the difference between the upstream and downstream total energy lines of a fall structure.
